'Friends should protect friend's interest': Teesta deadlock tests India-Bangladesh ties

India and Bangladesh have discussed sharing Teesta waters since the 1980s. Water resources minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee said on Sunday, "A friend should protect the interests of a friend." Dhaka now seeks a new project to manage floods and water shortages, hoping to resolve this long-standing issue with New Delhi.
