Five years of Taliban rule leave Afghan women and girls increasingly isolated

Five years after the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, Afghan women and girls face strict rules and growing isolation. They got pushed out of public life, schools, and workplaces. While large-scale fighting fell, many women lost control over their lives as the country remains isolated from the world.
