Beyond solid, liquid, gas: Scientists find new state of matter where two exotic materials meet

Physicists at Rutgers University discovered a new quantum state of matter where two exotic materials meet. By combining Eu₂Ir₂O₇ and Dy₂Ti₂O₇, researchers recorded a sixfold pattern in electrical conductivity at low temperatures. This finding shows that interfaces between different materials can create physics not seen in either material individually.
