A 16-year-old Canadian student, Evan Budz, built an autonomous AI-powered robot turtle to detect microplastics in water. The invention uses 3D holographic imaging and artificial intelligence to scan for pollution. Budz got the Gordon E. Moore Award at the 2026 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair for his hard work.
